Littleton's origins trace back to the 1859 Pike's Peak Gold Rush, which attracted not only gold seekers but also merchants and farmers to the area. The community's economic foundation was solidified with the construction of the Rough and Ready Flour Mill in 1867. By 1890, Littleton had grown to 245 residents and was officially incorporated as a town.
